Norman Mailer - The Executioner's Song (1979)

Arguably the greatest book from America's most heroically ambitious writer, The Executioner's Song follows the short, blighted life of Gary Gilmore who became famous after he robbed two men in 1976 and killed them in cold blood. After being tried and convicted, he immediately insisted on being executed for his crime. To do so, he fought a system that seemed intent on keeping him alive long after it had sentenced him to death. And that fight for the right to die is what made him famous.

Mailer tells not only Gilmore's story, but those of the men and women caught in the web of his life and drawn into his procession toward the firing squad. All with implacable authority, steely compassion, and a restraint that evokes the parched landscape and stern theology of Gilmore's Utah. The Executioner's Song is a trip down the wrong side of the tracks to the deepest source of American loneliness and violence. It is a towering achievement-impossible to put down, impossible to forget.

Jim Jefferies - I Swear to God (2009)

Jim Jefferies brings his subversive, one-of-a-kind brand of adults-only humor to HBO in this all-new, 60-minute stand-up exclusive, taped before a live audience at the Skirball Center at New York University in NYC.

In his routine, Jefferies tackles such objects as death (as a welcome balm from an unhappy life), national health standards (they're not the same everywhere), religion (and why the Devil needs to write his own version of the Bible), his bout with 'dick cancer' (true story), his father's (or was it his mother's?) vibrator, fat people, soccer, studs vs. sluts (there's a huge difference), hurtful words and gestures, ...and orgasms as we age (he's learned to fake it).

The Goon - Satan's Sodomy Baby (2007)

With the cover proclaiming this comic “vile, morally reprehensible subject matter” (even for Satan fans…), it uses countless stereotypes and prejudices to insult everyone and everything from farm animals to major religions. And yet, despite that, it contains less blood, gore, nudity and graphic sex than many mainstream titles on the market. Sure, there’s a pedophiliac priest, but when isn’t there? Originally planned as a regular issue in Goon, conservative public outcry resulted in this one-shot special instead-probably contributing to even greater interest and sales than if left alone.

The story kicks off with the birth of a hillbilly’s demonic “butt-baby-a better-endowed version of Hot Stuff, the Little Devil, a wide-eyed innocent with no apparent harmful intentions. Of course, that doesn’t stop the pitch-fork-wielding townsfolk-a scene that gives hilarious new meaning to the term pissed off! You don’t have to be a degenerate or Goon fan to enjoy this book-you just have to lighten up and laugh a little.

Meet Jesse "The Devil" Hughes. He's the wild frontman of "Eagles of Death Metal," the California-based rock band that includes Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme as one of its co-founding members.

Jesse is also a man full of contradictions. He considers himself a conservative Republican but tends to have liberal views on social issues. He was recently ordained a Catholic minister but maintains a healthy relationship with a former adult film star.

In this documentary "The Redemption of the Devil," director Alex Hoffman follows a year in the life of the 40-year-old rocker as he completes the band's new studio album, while at the same time strongly considers a future in politics.

The Usual Suspects (1995) DVDRip

Roger "Verbal" Kint is the only survivor of a bombing and shootout that left 27 people dead. While his lawyer fights for his speedy release from police custody, Kint begrudgingly reveals the events leading up to the previous night's explosion to Customs Agent Dave Kujan. Meanwhile, in a hospital not far away, it is revealed that a Hungarian dealer survived the blast, though unfortunately he only speaks Hungarian and isn't in much shape to be divulging his story. Kujan is determined to get the truth, no matter what it takes -- particularly the truth about Dean Keaton, one of Kint's fellow "suspects" and the target of his longtime vendetta.

Eventually, the crux of Kint's story begins to center around the presence of a criminal mastermind named Keyser Soze. Kujan at first doubts the existence of the "bogeyman of the criminal underworld", but as Kint continues his story, Kujan eventually realizes just how deep this particular rabbit hole goes.

Motley Crue - The Dirt (2001)

The most influential, enduring, and iconic metal band of the 1980's reveals everything a tell-all of epic proportions. This unbelievable autobiography explores the rebellious lives of four of the most influential icons in American rock history.

Motley Crue was the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anointed high priests of backward-masking pentagram rock, pioneers of Hollywood glam, and the creators of MTV's first "power ballad." Their sex lives claimed celebrities from Heather Locklear to Pamela Anderson to Donna D'Errico. Their scuffles involved everyone from Axl Rose to 2LiveCrew. Their hobbies have included collecting automatic weapons, cultivating long arrest records, pushing the envelope of conceivable drug abuse, and dreaming up backstage antics that would make Ozzy Osbourne blanch with modesty. No heavy metal fan will want to be without this crude, honest chronicle.

Harvard Lampoon - Bored of the Rings (2013)

Sometimes childish, sometimes rude, always clever and always very, very funny, this book has delighted most, and outraged a few Tolkien fans in the US for more than 40 years. Pulling in references to popular culture and fantasy literature as a whole, this is a killingly effective parody of The Lord of the Rings. From the dreary Goddamn (Gollum) to the feckless Arrowroot (Aragorn), the bungling Goodgulf (Gandalf) to the timid, mean-minded boggies Frito (Frodo) and Dildo (Bilbo), no character is safe. Fleeing the Nozdrul, bored by acid-casualty Tim Benzedrine and harassed throughout by the minions of Sorhed, the fellowship move through a Middle Earth like no other. Short, sharp and very much to the point, even Tolkien would be hard-pressed to suppress a giggle at Bored of the Rings.

National Lampoon Magazine (1971-1975)

National Lampoon was an American humor magazine which ran from 1970 to 1998. The magazine started out as a spinoff from the Harvard Lampoon. National Lampoon magazine reached its height of popularity and critical acclaim during the late 1970s, when it had a far-reaching effect on American humor and comedy. The magazine spawned films, radio, live theatre, various sound recordings, and print products including books. Many members of the creative staff from the magazine subsequently went on to contribute creatively to successful media of all types.

During the magazine's most successful years, parody of every kind was a mainstay; surrealist content was also central to its appeal. Almost all the issues included long text pieces, shorter written pieces, a section of actual news items (dubbed "True Facts"), cartoons and comic strips. The result was an unusual mix of intelligent, cutting-edge wit, combined with some crass, bawdy jesting. National Lampoon's humor often pushed far beyond the boundaries of what was generally considered appropriate and acceptable. Some consider its finest period was from 1971 to 1975.

Maron - Season 1

Marc Maron has been a comedian for 25 years. He’s had his problems. He was an angry, drunk, self involved, twice divorced compulsive mess for most of his adult life, but with the popularity of a podcast he does in his garage and a life of sobriety, his life and career are turning around. Maron explores a fictionalized version of Marc’s life, his relationships, and his career, including his incredibly popular WTF podcast, which features conversations Marc conducts with celebrities and fellow comedians. Neurosis intact, Maron is uniquely fascinating, absolutely compelling and brutally funny.
