At Last the 1948 Show

Just two series were made before it became no more and it became a revolution that was destined to change the face of TV comedy forever 'At Last The 1948 Show' (actually broadcast in 1967). Bursting onto the nation's small screens in an explosion of unrelated and often surreal sketches, its main perpetrators were John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Marty Feldman and Tim Brooke-Taylor and what 'At Last The 1948 Show' began the inestimable Monty Python would one day finish in mind-blowing style.... This set features the recently rediscovered episodes of the classic 'At Last The 1948 Show' series.

Do Not Adjust Your Set

Monty Python completists will especially appreciate Do Not Adjust Your Set, a precursor to Monty Python's Flying Circus starring Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Eric Idle, along with fellow writer-performers David Jason and Denise Coffey. Ostensibly a children's show, Do Not Adjust Your Set also includes the then-future Python Terry Gilliam lurking off-camera, and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band with Neil Innes, an important collaborator on several Idle projects that lay ahead. A freewheeling sketch show from the late 1960s, originally broadcast on the Rediffusion network before switching to Thames Television, it's impossible not to see Do Not Adjust Your Set as a blueprint for Flying Circus. The two hours' worth of material in this DVD set includes early versions of Palin's familiar role as an incompetent shopkeeper, in one instance selling shoe polish to a man who asks for bananas. The entire cast stars in a vignette about a classical music quartet whose instruments produce the sounds of an auto accident and an air raid. Terry Jones plays an insurance agent who wrecks Palin's house, and Idle essays his soon-to-be signature performance as a pleasant-sounding, BBC news reader spouting surreal headlines. This is a gold mine of Pythonesque comedy in an embryonic state, plus the Bonzo Dog Band performing "Death Cab for Cutie."

Wrinkles the Clown (2019) WEBRip

It started with a surveillance video uploaded on YouTube in 2014. The video's description claims that the clown's name is Wrinkles, that he lives in Florida, and that he is hired by children's parents to punish kids who misbehave. After the video went viral, other mysterious videos popped up online...Wrinkles pushing a cart through a parking lot. Waving alongside a busy highway. Holding balloons in front of a suburban home. The unsettling clips launched WRINKLES THE CLOWN to internet infamy. Cryptic stickers with a phone number were plastered on telephone poles and in bathrooms across the state, promising to terrify misbehaving children. Over 1 million voicemails were left. Wrinkles the Clown follows this eerie real-life character and explores the unpredictable spread of imagination in the internet age.

Neil Gaiman - Norse Mythology (2017)

Introducing an instant classic - master storyteller Neil Gaiman presents a dazzling version of the great Norse myths.

Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people. Gaiman stays true to the myths while vividly reincarnating Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning; Thor, Odin's son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods; and Loki, the son of a giant, a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator. From Gaiman's deft and witty prose emerge the gods with their fiercely competitive natures, their susceptibility to being duped and to duping others, and their tendency to let passion ignite their actions, making these long-ago myths breathe pungent life again.

Charles Addams - The Addams Family Books (1947-1970)

Charles Addams was a U.S. cartoonist, known for his sinister, macabre work. He was a household name in the pages of the influential magazine The New Yorker from the mid-1930s throughout the 1980s. His most famous creation is 'The Addams Family' (1938), an eccentric family of ghouls, ogres, witches and other creepy monsters. Their popularity skyrocketed when a sitcom series, 'The Addams Family' (1964-1966), was broadcast on ABC. The franchise later inspired several other TV series and films. Today the Addams Family are still a pop culture mainstay, though general audiences might not be aware that they originated as one-panel magazine cartoons.
