Judd Winick - The Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius 3 (2001-2002)

Barry Ween's bringing monkeys! He is the world's smartest human being; his "big brain," has a limitless capacity for knowledge, and Barry has no problem putting that knowledge to use. That's pretty cool when you consider the fact that he's only 10 years old. Unfortunately, when you have that kind of smarts, trouble is nearly a foregone conclusion! Giant, talking gorillas from other dimensions; drunken, smelly clans of Bigfeet; and a germ-filled monkey looking to cause the next outbreak -- these are things that Barry has come to accept as normal. Compared to such frightening childhood rites of passage as girls and the first school dance, Barry would take all three scenarios without blinking.

Judd Winick - The Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius 2.0 (2000)

Barry Ween is every boy's fantasy personified. His intellect is beyond any that has existed before. In his presence, Einstein looks like a moron. Working in the secret lab in the back of his house, Barry slowly inches towards dominating the world, and he would, too, if the laws of chaos weren't so strongly enforced. Protecting obnoxious aliens seeking asylum, getting transported to the pedophilic old west, being kidnapped by bungling government agents - it's all par for the course with Barry. It's tough being ten years old and smarter than everyone else, but no one is going to attack the task with as much gusto as Barry Ween. A hilarious experiment mixing mad scientist movies, the Little Rascals, and words little kids aren't supposed to say.

Meet Barry Ween, the smartest living human. What does a ten-year-old boy do with a 350 I.Q.? Any thing he wants. Hurdles that Barry must outmaneuver range from time warps, to art thieves, to accidentally turning his best friend into a dinosaur.

Jon Ronson - The Last Days of August (2019)

In December 2017, famed adult film star August Ames died by suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. Her death came just a day after she’d been the victim of a social media pile-on by fellow porn professionals--punishment for her tweeting out something deemed homophobic.

A month later, August’s husband and pornography producer Kevin Moore connected with journalist Jon Ronson to tell the story of how cyberbullying via Twitter killed his wife. Neither of them could predict the rumors and secrets that Ronson would soon hear, revelations that hinted at a very different story--something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

Please note: This audio features sexual content, adult language, and references to suicide and violence that may be upsetting to some listeners. Discretion is advised.

NOVA - Who Killed Lindbergh's Baby

In the aftermath of his 1927 solo transatlantic flight, Colonel Charles Augustus Lindbergh–the Lone Eagle–became the most famous human being on earth. And when he and his lovely wife Anne produced an adorable baby son, Charlie, an eager press quickly dubbed him Little Lindy or sometimes just the Eaglet. But on the evening of March 1, 1932 Lucky Lindy's luck ran out. Bold kidnappers snatched his baby from the family home near Hopewell, New Jersey, while everyone in the house was awake. Negotiations with the kidnappers stretched out for weeks. But Little Charlie never came back. His body was discovered not five miles from Hopewell. Now, NOVA is reopening one of the most intriguing, grisly, and confounding crime mysteries of all time as a team of expert investigators employ state-of-the-art forensic and behavioral science techniques in an effort to determine what really happened to Lindbergh's baby and why.

Alfred W. McCoy - In the Shadows of the American Century (2017)

In a completely original analysis, prize-winning historian Alfred W. McCoy explores America’s rise as a world power--from the 1890s through the Cold War--and its bid to extend its hegemony deep into the twenty-first century through a fusion of cyberwar, space warfare, trade pacts, and military alliances. McCoy then analyzes the marquee instruments of US hegemony--covert intervention, client elites, psychological torture, and worldwide surveillance.

Peeling back layers of secrecy, McCoy exposes a military and economic battle for global domination fought in the shadows, largely unknown to those outside the highest rungs of power. Can the United States extend the “American Century” or will China guide the globe for the next hundred years? McCoy devotes his final chapter to these questions, boldly laying out a series of scenarios that could lead to the end of Washington’s world domination by 2030.
