History Channel Seven Deadly Sins - S01E03 (Gluttony)

Although gluttony is never mentioned in the bible, as far back as the 4th century Christians believed that you'd go to Hell by overeating. Theologians of the Dark Ages believed their were seven ways to commit gluttony, from overeating to eating too daintily. Italian writer Dante wrote that one would be force fed toads and vermin in hell if you commited the sin of gluttony. This sin is thought to be the cause of obesity and alcoholism--and crusaders fought against the sin with everything from religious fasts to Prohibition.
