Mickey Spillane - Mike Danger (1995-1997)

Better known for his tough-guy private eye, Mike Hammer, novelist Mickey Spillane originally started in fiction with comic book stories. One unpublished comic book tale of Spillane’s was Mike Danger, a precursor to Mike Hammer.

Volume 1:
Tough guy P.I. Mike Danger wakes up in the future, where he was told that he has been in suspended animation. Then people start trying to kill him. Obviously, all is not what it seems, you say to yourself, and by the end of the series you discover you were right. In this synthetic, carefully controlled world, Danger’s the only “real” man around and women start falling all over him.

Volume 2:
While on an investigation in 1952, Mike Danger uncovered a former Nazi scientist working with cryogenics to revive Nazis in hibernation. In the ensuing shootout, Danger takes refuge in a cryogenic chamber and becomes trapped when the device activates. He wakes one hundred years later to a greatly changed world. Mike Danger, a pulp-fiction, no-nonsense, private eye, is a man out of his time in a world where his brand of forthright justice is as much of an anomaly as red meat, or love and marriage.
